Ellen's Birthday Oscar Hope

Juno's Ellen Page has got her fingers crossed for the ultimate birthday present - an Oscar win.

The star - who turned 20 yesterday - is up for Best Actress. The film itself is up for a slew of other awards at the 80th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

She's told Heart she was surprised to be nominated.

Ellen explained: “Of course I was. It’s not something you ever expect. Just being in the film in the first place was a gift in itself… so to be nominated alongside such great actors is amazingly humbling.”

She has also told Heart her parents were furious when she got nominated for an Oscar.

Of course, she's joking.

Ellen told Heart: “They’re really mad about it. They wanted me to be a pharmacist."
