Dating Tips

Whether you meet someone through friends or online, when you are going on a date it’s a good idea to follow the same dating rules to stay safe. It will help you feel secure and mean that you shouldn’t get into any situations in which you feel uncomfortable. The main thing is to enjoy your date, so follow these few simple guidelines and you’ll have a worry free time. If only there was an easy way to guarantee that there’ll be chemistry…!

  • Arrange to meet at a place you know well, and if possible, in a public place where there will be lots of other people.
  • Don’t disclose your address, or allow your date to meet you at your home.
  • If you have to travel, make sure you keep your travel details private from your date.
  • If you are meeting someone for the first time, make sure that one of your friends or a member of your family knows where you are going and who with.
  • If you’d feel safer, ask one of them to call you whilst on the date so that you can let them know that you are ok.
  • No matter how well you think you know someone, remember that before you meet and get to know them, they are still a stranger.
  • Don’t accept a lift or allow yourself to be escorted home if you feel uncomfortable about it.
  • Make sure that you have a backup plan in case you need to leave quickly. If you have a friend who lives nearby, make sure they are at home and know that may call on them.
  • Take a mobile phone with you and make sure it is fully charged, working and has enough credit to make calls.
  • Always use your common sense and trust your instincts, keep in control and don’t be forced into doing something you wouldn’t normally do.
Above all - be safe and have fun!
