The Golden Compass has failed to find the right direction at the box office.
The fantasy – which cost $180 million to make – has taken just $26.2 million in it’s first weekend in the US.
The family film starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig was hoped to be one of the biggest movies of the festive season, possibly of the whole year.
The amount studio bosses were looking for the movie to pull in waw between $30 and $40 million.
The sleeper hit of thr season has been Disney’s Enchanted, which has earned $83.9 million to date, and is expected to reach $150 million.
