Balham and Tooting Carnival will transform Tooting Bec Common into a playground of the senses with South London’s first annual local carnival. It is a unique multi-cultural event that aims to foster community spirit in a celebration of the music, cuisine, arts and entertainment of this diverse and vibrant South London community. Two stages will feature live music performances from an eclectic mix of local, national and internationally renowned artists, with art and music workshops, children's activities, plus a wide range of food and craft stalls. Licensed bars will operate on site.

The Tiger Beer Chilli Crab Festival takes place at the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, from Saturday 30th - Sunday 31st August 2008. The festival starts at 11am and continues until 6pm. Entry is free. The Tiger Beer Singapore Chilli Crab Festival London event takes place at the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, from Saturday 30th - Sunday 31st August 2008. The festival starts at 11am and continues until 6pm. Entry is free, presenting gourmet Singapore cuisine in a vibrant festival atmosphere. Locations on Brick lane will be brimming with Singaporean flavour in a unique food festival. Visitors to the Chilli Crab festival can browse authentic stalls during the day offering food, clothing, crafts and more, to a backdrop of live entertainment before partying into the night. Expect dragon dancing, martial arts displays and live music from the School of Oriental and African Studies during a weekend of colourful fun as well as intricate arts and crafts, authentic Singaporean goods, henna tattooists, massage therapy, caligraphy and more. London based Singaporean restaurant Kiasu in Bayswater will be cooking the delicious Chilli Crab dish for nigh on 8,000 festival goers. Also, celebrity chef Terry Tan will also be on hand with live cookery demonstrations throughout the event, showing the crowds how to prepare the legendary Chilli Crab dish.
