British Films Are On Top

Harry Potter Logo SmallBritish cinemas enjoyed a strong year in 2007 with £904 million taken at the box office – that’s 8% higher than 2006.

British films performed well, accounting for 28% of takings, up from 19% in 2006, and the third highest since records began in 1996.

The amount of money spent on making films in the UK in 2007 - including Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, Sweeney Todd, Brideshead Revisited and How To Lose Friends And Alienate People - was £723 million, down from £855 million in 2006, which was the second highest year on record.
