Bobby Brown is probably most famous for appearing on Top Of The Pops in the 80s in a shocking electric-blue suit, bear chest and about 10 kilos worth of gold round his neck!

He began his career with the popular boy band New Edition in 1980 but was later ousted from the group for his tearaway antics.

He started his solo career 1986 and had a string of Top 10 Billboard hits, bringing the new jack swing movement into the charts. During that time made the album Don’t Be Cruel, which had the hit single My Prerogative on it.

The album topped the US album charts and sold a whopping seven million copies, making Bobby a superstar. In 1989 he was asked to provide the theme song for Ghostbusters II, starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, coming up with the number four smash hit On Our Own.

Bad Boy Bobby is the ex-husband of R&B diva Whitney Houston and is also star of his own reality show, Being Bobby Brown on Bravo.

He is also known for many spats with the law, including being arrested for rape and battery in 1995. That same year he booked himself into famous dry-out drop-in The Betty Ford Clinic, coming clean about his drug and alcohol addiction.

Meanwhile, the tabloids were having a field day over his problem marriage to Whitney, printing allegations that Whitney had been abused by him during a yachting trip, though both of them denied the story.
