Paul Hollins' Blog
The hidden parts of London
It's been a little while since my
last blog, so I thought it was time to put that right. One of the
reasons it's taken so long is because I ended up having to take a few
days off. And before you ask, no I wasn't pulling a sickie.
Anyway,
I'm definitely back on the mend now and loving the warm weather we've
had here in London over the last week or so. I don't want to tempt fate
by speaking too soon, but it's been great to see the sun for a change.
The
other day I decided to head out for a walk in the forest near to where
I live. Now the reason I actually discovered the place is because when
I was in hospital a couple of weeks ago, I saw it from the window! My
friends have often talked about it, but I'd never visited. It's right
on the edge of Epping Forrest, near to Whipps Cross hospital and has
some truly lovely scenery... and it's literally 5 minutes away from my
flat. So I put on some warm-ish clothes and spent about an hour just
wandering around this huge lake.
That's what I love so much
about London - it's a hugely fast, diverse city... but you're usually
no more than a mile or so from a lovely green place where you can
switch off from the noise/pace for a little while.
