Chasing Pavements (Part 12!)

Welcome to the barking world of my personal trainer. From the gym instructor who last week had me trying to lift weights while balancing on what appeared to be half a Swiss Ball (I looked like some sort of performing seal) we now have his latest contribution to keep-fit…

He’s got a kind of rope-ladder thingy which he lays out on the gym studio floor. And then he gets me to use it in a series of different routines. For example, first I put one foot in between two of the `rungs’ on the ladder. The other foot stays outside the ladder but remains level with the first foot. Then I lift the foot that was in between the two rungs & move it so it’s outside the next rung up. At that point some nimble toe-work means I shift the leg that was outside first the rung so it’s now inside and in between the next two rungs up & is now level with the other foot. Confused??? You should try doing it!

Gym trainer-man has several of these routines up his cheeky cardiovascular sleeve, each as baffling as the next. Personally, I think he makes it up as he goes along & secretly films the action for a fitness instructor’s comedy website. I’m sure I’ll end up on youtube before you can say “control alt delete”.

So, what to call this freeky new gym class? Well, as it seems to combine the basic essential elements of Hopscotch, Riverdance & Twister, it’s got to be this:

“River-hop Twistercise”

But if you can come up with a better name, mail me!
