Chasing Pavements (Part 11!)

20 days and counting! Like most other London Marathon entrants, I spent a hefty chunk of my Easter completing my longest training run to date. Not sure exactly how far I ran as I like to get away from the roads wherever possible & go off-piste. But I was out running for over three and a half hours. Just. Plain. Silly!!

Great weather for it too. It’s not often you get to train in all four seasons during the same run, but I nailed that one this weekend as well! Snow, sleet, rain, hail & even the occasional ray of sunshine, I had the lot. Piled on the layers too in a bid to stay warm. Must have looked like some kind of waddling Michelin-man as I shuffled along the streets & tow-paths around Maidenhead.

And this being my longest training run to date, it only seems right that I should be feeling the fullest effects from it today. I do! This morning I had no choice but to bum-shuffle down the stairs and I’m now walking like the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz without the WD40. Quality. And they say the day AFTER the day after is always worse – heaven knows what to expect tomorrow!

Thanks as always for the kind messages of support during this year’s training. I appreciate them so much. And good luck to you, if like me, you’re also now nursing a pair of achy legs, sore feet & a random collection of blisters after the weekend’s pavement-pounding exertions. Think of them as Marathon badges of honour!

More tomorrow.

Big love
Gxx
