So the special day has arrived. If you like to follow tradition, this is the day that the girlies get to propose to their men. Although why they’re not supposed to for another four years is beyond me. Girls, strike a chord for equality, get out there & do the deed whenever you feel like it!
But if today is the day you’ve decided to bite the 'love' bullet & go for it, then I hope everything works out.
It took me 5 years to pluck up the courage to ask the future Mrs.G to become my wife. I think this was partly down to me being quietly content, happily bumbling along as things were. But I think there was another factor. It came up in my wedding speech. Charlotte had made it clear over the years that if I was to marry her, I’d have to ask her father first. This confused me a bit:
1) He was already married.
2) I didn’t fancy him anyway.
But once I’d negotiated that tricky little hurdle (& let me tell you, seeking permission from your future father-in-law was waaaay more nerve-racking than actually asking his daughter) the rest all came together beautifully. A desolate stretch of beach in the dramatic shadows of a castle ruin on the wild Northumbrian Coastline provided the back-drop, our special moment only almost spoilt by an emerging string of bearded ramblers (& their husbands). It was quite a day.
So, if you have big plans today & you’re looking for that little bit of extra inspiration – setting the mood is so important with these things – check out some of the romantic ideas on the homepage of our website right now.
And good luck!
Gxx
