Hello! Hope you had a fun weekend... I love it when there's so much going on. London seems like the best place in the world at this time of year... so many exciting events or activities to try out! This week is no exception to that... Oxford Street Christmas Lights turn on tomorrow (Weds), Thursday is the launch night of the Ice Rink at the Natural History Museum, which I've been to for the last 2 years and it's SO. MUCH. FUN. Really! You must give it a go!
I've suddenly gone from being 'Mr.Takeaway' (pizzas, fish & chips etc) to wanting to cook 'proper' meals every single day at the moment... I have no idea what suddenly inspired me, but for about a week now I've been trying dishes that I'd never done before... The best being on Friday, when I nipped round to 'Whole Foods' on Ken. High St. (amazing organic shop from America) and bought fresh (& live!) mussels, clams, squid, & prawns, some pasta, garlic, chilli & white wine, and made a Seafood Linguini. The guy at the fish counter was a complete star & gave me some great tips, and it really was I think the best dish I've ever cooked! I love the proud feeling you get when it all goes to plan! I just don't like the mess it leaves your kitchen in ...with shells & the de-bearded clam bits everywhere! Then over the weekend I was trying out some stir-frys, & tonight I'm going to attempt a Lamb Stew! If it goes well, I'll stick the recipe up here!
Friday was a good day actually - during the day I went to a motor show at Earls Court called 'MPH', which is full of GORGEOUS cars - I wanted pretty much all of them... the Aston Martin's being tops. What made this better than a normal exhibition though, was the show they put on, hosted by the Top Gear guys (Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May). It really was exhilarating - some amazing stunts, the best way I can try to explain it is to compare it to synchronised swimming! It was effectively cars 'dancing'! Handbrake turns & those kinds of techniques - all done to the beat of a tune! Brilliant! Unfortunately it's now finished it's run at Earls Court - but it's moving on to the NEC in Birmingham, if you fancy a trip up the M40?
