Diary of a Bad Mother

So we are now a family of 4! We now have a little girl, yet to be named. The great unnamed baby! John wants to call her Spirogyra. I have threatened divorce.

Great experience the 2nd time round she was born at 4.30pm and was 8lbs 4oz. Feeding well and so far hasn’t wailed at all! She can already hold her head up and she is VERY long (59cm if that means anything to you – Oscar was 54cm and 8lbs…) so no wonder I was so uncomfortable. So high points from hospital – a baby! Amazing care, just fabulous midwives etc. You hear horror stories so often, but it was all a walk in the park. Loads of visitors – including mum who made an 8 hour round trip to see us for 40 minutes! Low points from hospital included the girl in the next door bed who snored like a man. Or maybe a bear. And when John came to pick us up, I was walking slowly down the street to the car, meanwhile he was saying “hurry up we’ll get a parking ticket!” – I’ve just been sliced open and had a baby – so sorry I’m walking a little slowly…!

When we got home I was amazed to see the size of Oscar – he was my baby until Tuesday, and now I’ve spent 3 days with a tiny one again he seems soooo huge. He thinks the baby is cool…but is rather fascinated with her eyes…and trying to poke them out whilst saying “eye”…lethal!
