What happened to the sun?

So how was the Bank Holiday for you?

Any plans for a BBQ and some drinks outside dashed by the Arctic weather. Blimin cold wasn't it? After that early bit of spring a few weeks ago, flowers in bloom prematurely, birds singing merrily, it's now gone all quiet, and very chilly. We had the central heating on full all day yesterday, and still needed our little Glen heater fan thing blowing on our feet as we watched the Grand Prix and all the footie (and yes, well done the Chelsea. Thought we'd beat you, but us Gooners have just gone off the boil lately. Could be between you and Man Utd now for the Premiership title.)

Talking of footie, I spoke to my twin sister Kate a bit earlier. She's working with her hubbie Chris on a big event in Zermatt in the Swiss Alps (miss her loads). She can still get Sky, and watch all our English TV over there.

She was saying how she was going off football with the naff behaviour of some of the players lately. That Mascherano character who played for Liverpool against Man U at the weekend, swearing at and taunting the ref. Didn't need to. And people wonder why young lads go out shouting back at their elders, and swearing at them. And at teachers. Perhaps this is one of the reasons.

In some cases, high-profile football players are appalling role models. I kind of agree with her. You watch rugby, and yes it's aggressive, but when the ref speaks to a player, they listen, agree and walk away. No swearing back and stuff. Football refs do sometimes make bad decisions, but the players should have more respect (that's the heavy bit over with).

Something made me laugh earlier. We popped out to B&Q to pick up a towel rail and a soap dish. Wow, we are living in the fast lane! On the way home, decided to stop at Robert Dyas on Chiswick High Road and grab a bread board. Didn't have them at B&Q. Quite a few to choose from. Just got a straight-forward wooden one. Thought  that was it, but then... isn't it amazing how when you're in hardware shops like that, you just keep finding more stuff to buy. We ended walking out with (start the conveybelt music Brucie...): a new bread board, an old-fashioned style china biscuit tin, a set of stainless steel cutlery, a packet of kitchen roll, two mugs and a saucepan (time's up!!). YES it was. Got in the queue at the till before we lobbed anything else in our trolley.

Home again, putting all the stuff away. Noticed the biscuit tin has " biscuit" written on the side. Like we're only going to keep ONE biscuit in there. Not us. Get through a pack of custard creams in no time with a pot of tea. How come they didn't put  "Biscuits" on the side. Weird. Maybe because all the other tins are single/plurals... tea, coffee, sugar....? Oh who cares anyway. The biscuits were delish, we ate them all, felt sick, had a lovely hot bath to thaw out, and went to bed.
