Barnet

Just back from the hairdresser. Always a pleasurable experience getting the grey bits cut out of the sides! Even better than that, you know when they do the whole conditioner bit, and massage your head. Can you pay people to do that to you all day?! Just sit there with your head in a bowl, having all that stress massaged out of you. Having had a bottle of wine and a bit more last night, it was just the tonic.

After that, floated over to my seat in front of the mirror. (Boy did I look rough earlier.) Leo got started on the old barnet. And would you believe it, began talking about holidays. ( no way, not a hair dresser asking "if you're going anywhere nice this year"....bla bla bla....). Actually he is very interesting to listen to when it comes to holidays. Instead of going to the same old places each year, he tries somewhere different each summer. About 7 years ago he was telling me he went to Croatia, which was well before the tourist invasion. Now everyone's going. Anyway, this summer he's booked a week for him and his lovely girlfriend in..............ALBANIA!  Yep, Albania. Once a fiercely totalitarian state, and far from being a holiday destination. Now it's broken free from its communist shackles, and is rapidly developing into a western style economy. Google it and see how beautiful some of the resorts are. Lots of four star hotels by the beach for like £20 a night! Really friendly people, and i like the look of the food too!

What he's doing as well is flying a low cost airline into Corfu and then a short boat trip across. Apparently direct flights are still a tad expensive. So, has he found the next Croatia? Go there before everyone else does.

I'll never forget a family holiday to Corfu, when I was about 13 or 14. You could see Albania really clearly from the villa. One day we went to hire out pedalos on the beach. Then someone said not to go within 2 miles of the Albanian coast or they'll shoot you out of the water! Mum suggested we went on the inflatable banana ride instead!
