Lovely coming back from Ibiza to such nice weather! Bit jammy that.
Only away for a week though, and so much drama. I mean the whole Carol Vorderman thing. What's going on? It wouldn't be Countdown without the first lady of numbers. Is she going? The latest is that the bloke who owns the rights to the show, Belgian chap called Marcel Stellman says he'll pull it from Channel 4 if Carol leaves and is disgusted by the way the channel have apparently treated her. "If I am Mr Countdown, she is Mrs Countdown" (arrh, how sweet). Obviously we don't know the real deal, but it didn't sound so good for Carol. She's saying it's a 90% drop in wages, which is pretty hefty even in such lean times. Going on what she currently earns from it that would mean £100,000 a year. I could live on that quite nicely thanks, but it's the principal she's not happy with. And let's be honest some things just don't need changing. On occasion I think people are too quick to change things just because they're bored even if the viewers aren't. Carol is a legend on that show, just as Richard Whitely was, but the game will always be bigger than the presenters whoever they are.
I see the bookies are already putting Myleene Klass in as favourite to take over. Anthea Turner and Ulrika ka ka are in the frame too. Fine. All bright and attractive ladies. But I reckon they've missed a trick here. Bring back Johnny Ball!! He's available, and could do those sums quicker than you could "Think of a Number!" (boom boom). Not sure how he'd cope with the letters, but doing the sums on that white board, he's the man!
