Can't believe I did it!

I had to go to Argos earlier to buy a new bag and some saucepans (life in the fast line). As I was flicking through the catelogue, I arrived at the outdoor leisure bit. Saw some golf clubs on sale for like, not very much money. Beginners clubs (think you can see what's coming). And in a moment of spontaneous madness I bought them. Took them to the car, sun was out, called my mate Paul, and asked him if he'd like a quick round of golf. He was up for it.

So an hour after leaving Argos in the W12 Centre in Shepherds Bush, we were teeing off at Duke's Meadows Golf Club in Chiswick. Mental! Playing for the first time in 5 years. And boy did it show in the divots I was making with pretty much every shot! But it was so nice being out in the fresh air, that smell of freshly cut grass, lovely. Good for the soul. Although it is as frustrating as I can remember playing golf. One good shot, then two rubbish ones. Good exercise, walking round the course. It reminded me of when I used to play with a friend of mine Pete at school when we were about 16 or 17. It was a great way of sneeking out for a quick ciggie. One of us would buy a ten pack of Silk Cut purple from the bus station or Old Holborn rollies if we were feeling a bit cool. Then off for 9 holes and a few puffs. Most people tried the horrible habit at school. Just glad I didn't take to it (that's the ciggies not the golf).

But I can see how some people get addicted to golf. Nice and leisurely way to relax and de-stress, especially when the sun's shining and you can play in a t-shirt.

Right then, got to get all my tunes sorted out for the 90's Re Loaded Weekender in Bognor. Can't wait for it. If you're one of the 4000 people coming down, make sure you come and say hi. I'm in the Main Stage arena on Friday and Saturday night.
