Are cyclists like ex-smokers?

So I've just got to Heart Towers on my bike... it's the first time I've done the 5 mile journey from my house and boy, was it an experience.

Firstly I'm fighting off a cold so the old nozzle was running rather crazily, then I had to face the swell of cars through Cricklewood, the temporary traffic lights of Ladbroke Grove and the rouge delivery vans ignoring the temporary traffic lights and scaring the hell out of me! But I survived and walked into the building in one piece.

I have to say though, being a new cyclist and a regular motorist I'm wondering whether I'm getting more road rage towards careless drivers... kind of like ex-smokers getting all high and mighty once they've quit the fags.

The thing is, do you ever stop and think about a cyclist? Not really... did you know there are cycling routes on the roads? I didn't - I hadn't even seen them. But now I have and I'm instantly more aware, so if I can ask that you take a little look around whilst driving in your car... my bike is neon but I appreciate you might not see me.

I'm hoping to get thighs of steel to prepare me for the London - Brighton bike ride in June so lets hope i survive..There's a very cool website you can check out in the meantime www.cyclehero.com.
