The Big and Small Screen

After a hectic week of catching up with friends who were on various missions to be out late and drink to much for a school night, I tried to have a low key weekend... Which involved lots of watching a bright screen and sitting pretty still!!

If you want to see something funny, yet at the same time cringy, shocking and kinda gory... then do go and see the new Brit flick, The Cottage. It’s a strange one, but I do think it’s worth seeing something completely different every now again. Starting Andy Serkis (Golum/King Kong) and Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentlemen) and the blond beauty that is Jennifer Ellison (Brookside), the film is a slick British comedy about a kidnap plot that goes completely wrong. There’s a big scary farmer on the loose and if you’re a fan of 80’s thrillers you’ll love this. It really did have me laughing out loud whilst hiding behind my fingers. 8/10

Sam and AmandaMy eventful weekend continued with a glamourous ball on Saturday, which I was hosting for Young Jewish Care. Here’s me with the very sweet Sam and Amanda from Big Brother.

Strangely enough during the day I’d been sat next to Brian on the tube who seemed to have failed in his ability to do up his coat properly with it being all higgledy piggeldy... and he looked quite confused! Still Saturday night was lots of fun and we raised lots of money for a great cause.

My TV viewing continued on Sunday, with a catch up of Waterloo Road, the last in the series. It was all extremely tense as poor Headmistress Rachael was outed by a angry contractor in front of  the whole school and the canteen caught on fire. This week’s Ashes to Ashes (BBC 1 Thurs 9pm) also didn’t disappoint with Gene Hunt and Alex Drake almost... yes almost... kissing. Will they, won’t they?

My weekend ended with Suzanne Shaw winning Dancing on Ice and Willy’s Wonky Chocolate Factory  (Ch4 Sun 9pm) which is one of my favourite programmes at the moment. Willy is a completely excentric chocolate lover who is trying to make 100% chocolate for you and I to enjoy, not just to scoff down a bar, but also to cook with – yes sweet and savoury! Honestly, this guy puts chocolate in pretty much everything. So far we have seen him harvest his crop in Venezuela and set up a factory in Devon. The beans have now arrived in the UK, the production line has started and Willy is talking to the likes of Selfridges about stocking his choc... when do we get to taste it, is what I want to know!!

I’ll on a mission to get some chocolate tasting happening. I’ll be back with more info...
