Festivals and broken toes!

After the early start of Sunday morning breakfast I made my way over to Victoria Park in East London to witness the Love Music Hate Racism concert. A free event, celebrating its 30th anniversary and the likes of Hard-Fi, The Good The Bad and The Queen (Damon Albarn's latest band) and the very entertaining Patrick Wolf amongst many others were all there to show their support. Check out www.lovemusichateracism.com. It was a brilliant event with a strong politicial undertone of course with the May 1st elections getting even closer... a very interesting experience to say the least.

What made me chuckle was how our typically British weather had the sun shining on Saturday, but on Sunday when a whole load of people were standing in a field watching live music - of course it kept raining. But you know what I love about us Brits is that we are SOOO good at battling the elements and everytime the rain stopped and the sun came out there was such a cheer.

Later that day we were sat in a beer garden, in the sun - which of course finally came out about 6pm once the event had come to a close but there was a real sense of comeraderie as we'd all made it through the slightly wet day for a good cause. Of course festival time is getting even closer as April draws to a close, many tickets have already been on sale and sold out and you can find out all you need to know at www.gigjunkie.net and you can buy your tickets for all sorts of gigs right here at www.heart.co.uk

So, I felt particularly proud having survived the Sunday with what I think is a broken toe. On Saturday, enjoying the sunshine I had my first bbq of 2008 with my sister and her family and managed to stub my toe on the wooden picnic table we were sitting at. Now being brave I didn't really think much apart from 'Ow!' and rubbed some arnica cream on it, but on waking at 4.30am Sunday morning to come into Heart for the breakfast show I was reminded about my stubbing incident due to a throbbing toe that had now turned black. So I'm slightly hobbling still, but I have a little strapping on it and am soldiering on (sympathy welcome). My thoughts go to anyone with anything broken at the moment!

I'll be back chilling you into your Sunday morning from 6am, so see you then
