So I won't make you jealous talking all about my lovely holiday which has chilled me out and made me all happy - as if yours isn't for ages then I'll depress you. What I will do though is share my good mood with you. I'm sure you've had that dreadful going back to work feeling, after a holiday - coming back, having to sort all your washing and get all that sand out of everywhere. Worse still is putting away the holiday clothes because it's still too cold to wear them and trying your hardest to hold onto your tan.
Well, I think the trick is to give yourself more to look forward to. I spent this weekend in Amsterdam (by chance it was right after my holiday). It was an old school friends Hen and 30th. We did some lovely activities that I think you should get some of your girlfriends together and get busy with. (Sorry guys but this first bit's not for you).
We went pottery painting - sounds naf, but actually was really quite fun and belive me I don't have a very long attention span. I did however successfully paint a mug... they have stensils for the not so artistic - like me and you can also do make mosaics and I definately enjoyed more than I thought I would. The mug is still in amsterdam being baked! Click here to have a look.
That night we went to a cocktail workshop and were taught how to make the perfect Cosmopolitan and Mojito. So my holiday gift to you is the recipes to both, so if your holiday seems months ago, why not treat yourself with some cocktails!! Guys - I know you'll appreciate the Mojito recipe.
Trust me - stick to the measures and you will get the best cocktail you've ever had!
Cosmopolitan (for 2 people)
50 ml vodka
30 ml lime cordial
30 ml cointreau
40 ml cranberry juice
squeeze 2 pieces of lime
shake up (in cocktail shaker with ice if poss) and drink and if you're feeling clever - burn a bit of orange pith for 5 seconds, squeeze to get the oil out and and an impressive little flame then wipe around the top of martini glass and serve.
Mojito (for 2 people)
7 mint leaves
Spoonful of sugar
Half a lime
lots of crushed ice
10 ml sugar water (mix some sugar and water)
mush with a pestle - careful not to break up the mint, just squash it
50 ml of rum
Add more ice - then top up with sparkling water, add a slice of lime and drink up!
till next time
